Le Tour De Taree

Make a positive difference

le Tour de Taree is the signature fundraising and community engagement event of the Club Taree Community Team.

le Tour de Taree was conceived in May 2015 during a team creative session, and to date has gone on to raise a total of $305,471.88 over the last eight years for Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW (RMHCNNSW).

The event mirrors le Tour de France in both distance and dates, however the key point of difference is that our staff (under their volunteer banner of the Club Taree Community Team), ride collectively on spin bikes in the Clubs Members Lounge. The event is also taken ‘on the road’ to local shopping centre’s, community centre’s, and to events held by our community partners to help maximise engagement. The event, to mirror le Tour de France, is held in July each year over a period of 23 days.

All participating team members give of their own time to ride, raise funds, engage with members and guests, or offer support roles. The event is run entirely by the Club Taree Community Team for the sole benefit of (RMHCNNSW).

In conception the team decided to align with RMHCNNSW in 2015 when a local fund-raiser for the organisation was cancelled due to lack of community support. Our team took this to heart as many of our team members have personal stories and association with RMHCNNSW and were aware first hand of the direct benefits to our community. The team wanted there to be opportunity not only to raise funds but to engage with the community on how this world wide charity works locally to support local and regional families.

Over the last seven years le Tour de Taree has authentically engaged our team in an event which captures the hearts of our members, guests and community. The le Tour de Taree acts on the simple principle that it is easy to make a positive difference in our community, our team has uniquely been able to take it one step further, and instead of just raising funds, we have engaged the community in a unique and much valued organisation through education, by providing communication platforms, and through passionately telling their story.
